Carleton, also known as Carleton-sur-Mer is one of the Gaspe Coast's most beautiful towns. It can be found, nestled between the Bay of Chaleurs and the Mont St Joseph Mountain.
This town has long been known as a beach town, a resort area, as well a destination for pilgrims who returned there year after year to pray at the top of the mountain and visit the small chapel there. It had some of the first large hotels for tourists on the Gaspe Coast because visitors wanted to enjoy the salty waters of the Bay of Chaleurs.
It also had a unique radio station on Carleton Mountain which was a challenging road experience for the local broadcasters in the winter.
