Dancing with the Devil of Routhierville is one of the Gaspe Coast's most famous legends. It tells the story of a young woman who loved to dance and what happened when a handsome stranger showed up one night and asked her to step onto the dance floor with him.
There are more than 200 versions of this story across North America, but this is the one that has been told for more than a hundred years here on the Gaspe Coast.
The community of Routhierville is accessible from Route 132 with a covered bridge over the Matapedia River.
