Because a home without a gnome is just an ordinary place to live. But a home with a Home Gnome is a home filled with more reasons for good fortune, health, merriment and happiness?
All Home Gnomes are made at Maggies Inn out of many different things that can be found in her sewing room, like recycled wool sweaters, polar fleece, felt, yarn, buttons, fiberfill and other bits of this and that. They are all handmade and come in different sizes and colours. In fact, none of them are ever exactly the same. A little hand-knit hat is knit for each of them and they all leave the Inn with a story booklet to tell you a bit more about them.
There are all kinds of pretend gnomes out there now, but none of them are like the authentic"Home Gnomes". Their fabled story started here on the Gaspe Coast when a woman called Winnie arrived from Ireland in 1856, with an old trunk full of gnomes hidden in it. As soon as she opened the trunk, away to the forest, they ran as fast as they could because it had been a long voyage across the sea. Their first winter here was cold and difficult, but they soon found a way to survive the freezing cold winters on the Coast. And it is their descendants that still live out there in the forests, mountains, and old barn on the Gaspe. But there are also some who have become quite friendly with people, and those are the ones that call themselves Home Gnomes.
Get a Home Gnome for yourself or for someone else as a little gift. And then find a cozy place for them to spend time with you throughout the year. Maybe on a bookshelf, desk, table, or another cozy little place, because a home without a Gnome, is a home that is missing a little something. And with so much going on in the world today, it sure would be good to come home to a friendly gnome!
Remember, these Home Gnomes love to stay out all year, so don't put them away after the Holiday season. Every Gnome will be sent to you with the story of the Gaspe Gnomes booklet!
