The Revised Edition 2023 with 7 new stories and more photographs is now available!
After writing the first edition of The Lost and Buried Treasures of the Gaspe Coast book last year, I found more lost treasure stories to write about in 2023. Therefore I wrote a revised edition of last year's booklet and added 7 new stories and pictures.
This new edition includes all of the stories from last year's booklet and also tells these new ones...
The Gaspe Coast is a place of stories, legends, and folklore. The pages of its past are filled with intrigue, adventure, and long-lost secrets. Some of its most fascinating stories are the ones about the treasures that were lost and buried here long ago in the secluded inlets and coves of the peninsula. Its rough and rugged shoreline, mountains, forests, rivers, and valleys offered some interesting hiding places for pirates, thieves, prospectors, merchants, and the locals to hide their fortunes.
This collection of stories takes the reader back in time to when gold, silver and precious stones were lost in the holds of ships wrecked on the jagged rocks of the rugged Gaspesian Coast. It also tells the stories about travellers to the Coast who intentionally buried their treasures near some well-known landmarks, such as Perce Rock and Bonaventure Island. Some of the stories are documented in historical accounts, while others belong to folklore. The only way to know whether any of these stories are true would be if someone found some of the hidden treasure. Until then, the thrill of searching for these long-lost valuables remains an exciting adventure into the past and worthy of a "road trip" around the Gaspe Coast.
Find out more about these stories by reading an excerpt from the book and listening to the short video clip below.
