This is an amazing old story that was written in 1939 by Marius Barbeau, who was born in Sainte-Marie de Beauce, Québec in 1883. He was a collector of 400 folk tales and 7,000 songs and his writings total over 1,000 books and articles.
In this story, he wrote about the Gaspe Coast, its people and their way of life back then. He also tells some interesting and amusing stories, especially the tale of Curé Morris of Fox River.
From his book...
"The peninsula, in other words, is almost a province by itself, and the personality of its inhabitants is distinctive and colourful."
I was able to retrieve this hidden treasure from the public domain and reformat it for digital content.
